In this design journal: I shared a glimpse into my small studio, how I direct videos, continuously introduce Studio FC to new audiences, and of course, to find solutions for an overly time consuming and ever-constant requirement living in the digital age... CREATING CONTENT 🙄.
To my fellow start-up founders, here are my key takeaways from this on going creative journey:
A Little Disclaimer Unless you're running a start-up backed by huge investments, this ones for you. This is coming from a full-time design studio founder and self-funded:
Let’s Talk About Content Some of you may think that 'content' isn't vital for a start-up. Please hear me out (you might learn a thing or two).
It comes with frugality
When you can’t afford to constantly hire talents, you become the talent. You use what you have: Your voice. Your face. Your writing. Your story.
Creating thoughtful content that truly reflects your brand is tougher than it looks:
As a creative, I couldn't bear to put out half-baked content, so I began treating our studio’s content as if it were a client project.
It takes time, it takes effort. If you have two clients at the moment, content becomes your third.
Btw, my definition of half-baked content is anything that lacks thoughtful preparation or intention. I don’t mean perfect, I mean content that feels like it was made with care, clarity, and purpose.
How I’m Learning to Balance Client Work and Content Creation
Pick a content bucket you actually love. Choose one that feels natural to create and that aligns with your brand’s story.
Visualize it clearly. Make a Pinterest board. Study formats. Get inspired.
Make time—no excuses. Squeeze it in, even if you’re busy. Create it like you mean it.
Delegate where you can. I’m lucky to have my sister as my business partner—she handles operations and keeps me accountable when it comes to content.
Post it everywhere. Don’t overthink it—YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, wherever your audience is.
Repeat. Daily, weekly, or monthly—whatever works for you.
It’s Not About Frequency. It’s About Intention.
If your content is created with heart, intention, and a clear message, it will work—whether you post once a week or once a month.
My Favorite Content Bucket
I know I'm only speaking for myself, but the content bucket that I chose is the kind that feels like a documentary film—raw, emotional, real. I want Studio FC’s content to feel like that 5AM Olympic coach pep talk. You'll know it when you see it.
Final Thoughts
The real solution? Make time. Prepare thoughtfully. And most importantly, be kind to yourself while doing it.
